Review- Pageant The Musical- Hong Kong Singers13-10-17

“My face hurts from smiling so much,” says the man behind me as the show finishes and he’s leaving his seat. My sore palms, aching tummy, and coarse throat agree with him in testament of how much I’d clapped, laughed, whopped and hollered throughout the show, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

“La Traviata” — More than Musical, 17-18 June, ArtisTreeRedeploying opera in new formulas for new audiences can generate howls of protest from die-hard traditionalists, but it’s hard to see what is wrong with it in principle: in the theatre, this sort of thing is done all the time.

Review- The Last Five Years- Aurora Theatre20-5-16

I'm a big fan of The Last Five Years. I've seen it several times. I even saw a lesbian production in Austin a few years ago. I know this musical and love it. Writing about a show you've seen many times is always harder than a new experience. The Wiz Live Was Everything Theatre on TV Should Be8-12-15

NBC was THE place to be December 3rd for an absolutely epic staging of The Wiz. It featured a mega-talented cast headed by newcomer Shanice Williams as Dorothy, in her first major role. Her stage presence and breathtaking voice made sure this was going to be an amazing journey down the Yellow Brick Road. We can’t imagine anyone else doing such an iconic performance so early in their career. She absolutely nailed it and showed that undiscovered talent has a place on the big stage and that Broadway/TV should consider more open castings vs. just named celebrities.
