Review- Don Giovanni- Opera Hong Kong 8-6-19

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Don Giovanni might well be the best opera ever written. Opera Hong Kong’s recent production, with mostly young casts that leaned strongly on local singers, gave a good indication as to why.


Review- Hansel and Gretel- HKU28-2-17

Hansel and Gretel is a late 19th-century German opera by Engelbert Humperdinck; its debut was in 1893 was conducted by Richard Strauss. This is not quite what is being presented by the HKU Black Box in their current production.


Review- Otello- Opera Hong Kong14-10-16

Opera Hong Kong is closing out its commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare with a new production of Giuseppe Verdi’s “Otello” which runs through Sunday at the Cultural Centre.
