Do Trailers Work?

I was in the cinema the other day, when we were flooded with trailers for various programs happening at the Hong Kong Arts Festival. I watched them and was very intrigued by them but I had to wonder: do they work? Is the cinema audience and the HKAF audience similar enough to have people running out and buy tickets to Romeo & Juliet?

Trailers for me have always been associated with the movies. It's very jarring for me to see a theatre play get a commercial. So, I have to ask: have you ever bought theatre tickets because of a Youtube trailer or a commercial?

Here are some examples of youtube trailers for the 2013 HKAF. Do they make you want to buy tickets? Why or why not? Discuss...
